No More Excuses: WCC’s financial crisis

Council operating costs have nearly doubled since 2019, to $1 billion a year. Debt has soared to over $1.4 billion and is forecast to exceed $2 billion by June next year. We’re spending more than ever, but serving fewer people — our population has dropped by more than 13,000 since 2022. Meanwhile, our small businesses are battling some of the highest rates in the country.
